2014 Reading Challenges

I'm pretty sure every single reader out there has this problem: A huge stack (or stacks, in my case) of books we keep meaning to read, but don't. Usually because a shiny new book distracts us. Yes, booklovers are basically magpies.

So Bookish Blog is hosting a 2014 reading challenge to encourage us to actually get around to reading some of those books. The rules are pretty simple - any book that was published in 2013 or sooner is eligible, and we just have to review the books we read. (For all the details, go here.)

I'll probably change my mind about the books I plan to read (multiple times), but for now, here's my list:

I'm also signing up for the Goodreads Reading Challenge again this year. Last year I joined in June, so I did 32 books since I only had six months. So this year I'm doubling that to 64 books, or just over five books per month.

I know a bunch of you are doing a whole host of challenges, but that's it for now! Trying to keep things realistic this year! Though, if you know of any truly awesome challenges you think I should know about, please do share in the comments!

  1. This is a GREAT idea!!

I have so many books that need to be read. I will just watch the results of everyone else, though. I can't pressure myself. LOL!! :)

Thanks for sharing. Leaving a link to my blog and a post about my first read of the year. The giveaway is the first post on the blog so press "home" to get to it after you are directed to the link below. Good Luck.

    Happy New Year!!

Stop by my blog from January 2 to January 11 for an international giveaway of Jubilee's Journey.

My First Book of The Year

    1. Yeah, I've seen bloggers who are participating in upwards of 5 or more challenges - reading a certain number of books from different genres, reading a certain number of books from genres they don't normally read, reading books that have been turned into movies, banned books, classics... it's just a bit too much. This way it's pretty simple - I have my overall Goodreads goal (and I purposely made it on the low side) an then a plan to read at least 10 books published 2013 or sooner, which should be no problem and those count towards BOTH challenges. It's all win, baby.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Shatter Me, Alice in Zombieland, Partials by Dan Wells, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (personal favorite of mine), Looking for Alaska and Before I Die are brilliant books.

And I pretty much recommend anything by Sarah Dessen :)

    1. Excellent! those are probably the ones I'm looking forward to the most.
