It's time for this week's WWW Wednesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading blog (head over and check them out!).
This link up asks three questions
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you'll be reading next?
What did I recently finish reading?
I'm this close to finishing The Woman Who Went To Bed For A Year by Sue Townsend, but not officially done yet. I did, however, finish Station Eleven which BLEW MY MIND. Seriously. There's chunk of it over there, and a bit in that corner and OH LOOK there's some on the ceiling! Blown. I went into this without really knowing what to expect, and I think that made it even more amazing. I was doubly impressed by this book because the plot and character development were both equally accomplished. It will appeal equally to fans of The Walking Dead-type action and those who prefer character-focused novels.
What am I currently reading?
I've got a few on the go, these two among them. The Woman Who Went To Bed For A Year I'm nearly finished and it's one that I think won't appeal to everyone, but if you like it you'll really like it. It has a similar tone to Townsend's most famous series about a youth by the name of Adrian Mole. There's social commentary subtly worked into the plot, but it's not overt, and if you enjoy dry humour it's hilarious. I'm also reading Never Say Never, which I am very overdue on reviewing (sorry, Eva!) because I was really into novels over the summer, but it certainly deserves some attention now that we're heading into the winter months when staying in bed is an attractive option under any circumstances, but doubly so with some inspirational steamy reading!
What do I think I'll be reading next?
I have so many books I want to start! I'm anxiously waiting for Not My Father's Son to come out, but until it does, I think these three are my most likely options! I'm particularly excited about How To Build A Girl, because I've heard that it's honest, relatable and doesn't shy away from controversial topics and situations. All things I like in a book.
What are you guys into this week, book-wise? Any great reads I should know about?
