TOP TEN TUESDAY | 2014 RELEASES I MEAN TO READ BUT DIDN'T

This week's Top Ten Tuesday on The Broke and the Bookish is: Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To. You guys, there were a lot of great books that came out last year. I can tell you right now I will not be able to keep this list to ten books. TEN! You have got to be kidding me. 50, more like. But I'll try to stop somewhere in the middle....

California - Edan Lepucki

Redeployment - Phil Klay
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - David Shafer

The Bone Clocks - David Mitchell
The Book of Unknown Americans - Cristina Henriquez

The Paying Guests - Sarah Waters

Elizabeth Is Missing - Emma Healey

The Children Act - Ian McEwan

Land of Love and Drowning - Tiphanie Yanique
Tibetan Peach Pie - Tom Robbins
Not My Father's Son - Alan Cumming

And there are so many more. Every time I thought I was done, two more popped into my head. Eventually I decided I just have to stop... even as I remember We Are Not Ourselves, A Thousand Pieces of You, The Rosie Effect, How To Build A Girl, Love Me Back, The Silkworm, I'll Give You the Sun and To Rise Again At A Decent Hour. The list doesn't end, so I'm forcing myself to stop here! But tell me - have you read any of these? Were they good? Which books didn't you get time to read in 2014? Share in the comments!

  1. There are so many books that look great on your list. I kept meaning to read All The Light We Cannot See and Everything I Never Told You. I hope you enjoy these books when you do get around to them! My TTT

  2. I love the title The Girl Who Was Saturday Night - had not heard of this book but it's now on my TBR list :-)

All the Light We Cannot See was one of my favourite books last year - it's pretty much perfect.

Seven Killings, Paying Guests and Everything I Never Told You are all in my reading future - all three turned up on so many 'Best of 2014' lists. Although, have you seen how long Seven Killings is? eeeek! Children Act also on my list.

I'm currently reading Elizabeth is Missing - it's fantastic (although tough reading if you know someone with dementia).

    1. I've heard great things about The Girl Who Was Saturday Night and All the Light - which I started and haven't had time to finish yet! Yeah, some of them are long - particularly The Paying Guests! It's a bit intimidating. Glad to hear Elizabeth is so good (if tough at times). I'll move it on up the list!

Elizabeth is Missing is on my top 10 list too. Hope you enjoy working your way through all these! :)

  5. You have many on your list that I have on my longer wishlist but didn't include in the post, such as How to Tell Toledo from the Night Sky and The Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing. The Rise and Fall of Great Powers was one of my favorite books last year--I hope you enjoy it when you get around to it!

  6. A couple of these made my list too - since posting so many people have recommended All The Light We Cannot See that I'm making it my first purchase of 2015.
