Time to look at the books I added to my shelves this week with Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews! Not necessarily books I bought - also includes books I borrowed, was given or otherwise ended up with. Weeks where I don't buy books I'll scramble around my shelves and find some books I haven't shared in a StS post yet!
Last Night In Twisted River - John Irving
The Mockingbird Next Door - Marja Mills
Unbroken - Laura Hildebrand
The Signature of All Things - Elizabeth Gilbert
Let's Get Lost - Adi Alsaid
Absolute Beginners - Colin MacInnes
A bit of a mix this week. I have been thinking back over books that meant a lot to me, and of course John Irving's work came to mind. So I dug out my copies of his books and realized I have a few I've never finished. Last Night in Twisted River seemed the least imposing, so I've re-added it to my TBR list. The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake and Bonkers are others I haven't read, but keep meaning to, so we'll see if digging them out will inspire me! I've really been enjoying The Mockingbird Next Door and realized I hadn't featured it.
Unbroken and The Signature of All Things are gambles - not sure if I'll enjoy them. Particularly TSOAT because I'm one of those rare few who really did not enjoy Eat, Pray, Love (I DNFed it somewhere around India), but I've heard that this one is quite good and that even those who weren't fans of her most famous work will enjoy it. So I'm giving her one last try. Likewise Let's Get Lost is one I'm still trying to decide if I want to keep - all the reviews I've seen have been pretty mediocre.
Absolute Beginners I came across in my recent quest for British and UK-set books, it's a bit of a modern classic, plus bears the same title as one of my favourite David Bowie songs!
That's it for this week! Any you've read and either loved or hated? Any you added to your shelves or TBR pile this week?
