This week's Top Ten Tuesday on The Broke and the Bookish is: Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR List. I assume this means NEW books coming out in fall, so I'll stick to those but include a few that just came out!
The Children Act - Ian McEwan
The Paying Guests - Sarah Waters
Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimmage - Haruki Murakami
How To Build A Girl - Caitlin Moran - September 23
The Rosie Effect - Graeme Simsion - September 24
Us - David Nicholls - September 30
Belzhar - Meg Wollitzer - September 30
Not My Father's Son - Alan Cumming - October 7
Glory O'Brien's History of the Future - A.S. King - October 14
Killer Instinct (The Naturals #2) - Jennifer Lynn Barnes - November 4
I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of, so share in the comments - which Fall reads are topping your TBR list?

I assume you liked The Naturals??? I'm always a bit hesitant when it comes to YA thriller/crime novels. They rarely work for me but this series sounds good!?
ReplyDeleteGlory O'Brien's History of the Future has been on my wishlist for a while now. I feel so bad for not having read any A.S. King book yet D:
Yes! I mean, did I think it was perfect? No. Were there things I'd criticize? Yes. But overall I thought it struck a good balance between the thriller aspect and character development, didn't get too out there with the "special powers," and definitely left me itching to read the sequel. It *is* YA, but as long as you go into it with YA-level expectations, I'd say it's worth a read. It reminded me of a cross between Criminal Minds and The Mentalist (but obvs a bit less intense).
DeleteI've actually only read ONE A.S. King - Reality Boy - but I was impressed with the writing and how realistic it felt. I'm looking forward to reading the new one!
Eeeep, Criminal Minds is one of my favorite show! :D
DeleteI really hope that I will like The Rosie Effect!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I was surprised to find out there as a sequel - The Rosie Project really had a stand-alone feel. So I'm curious to see where this book takes the story! How are you, btw? I feel like I haven't talked to you in AGES!
DeleteI've heard a lot of good things about A.S King, but I haven't read anything by this author yet. I'm curious about Glory O'Brien's history of the future. Happy reading :)

I've only read Reality Boy, but I was impressed with how realistic her characters were, and how much I could relate to them. She didn't sugar coat being a teenager either, which really impressed me. This'll be my second of her books and I'm looking forward to seeing how it stacks up!
DeleteYou picked up such amazing books and I'm excited because some of them are on my tbr too. Happy reading! :)

Thank you! Yes, I'm very excited for this fall's new books - just in time to hibernate and read for the winter!
DeleteI too would love to read Us, The Rosie Project, and Belzhar! I love reading in the fall in the chilly weather. :D

Me too. If ever there's a national vote to enact hibernation from about mid-September until March where the entire country (except pizza delivery) stays home and does nothing but read, I'd be the first to vote YES. And this list is where I'd start.
DeleteSo excited for Glory Obrien's History of the Future! And Killer Instinct!

ME TOOOOOO!!!!
DeleteI have a couple of these on my own list-The Paying Guests and Belzar. Glory O'Brien! How could I have forgotten a new A.S. King?
ReplyDeleteYour list contained more than one I forgot.... Love Is the Drug! Station Eleven! But then, with only ten spots, you can't remember them all. Yup, it's shaping up to be a good reading winter!
DeleteHaha 6/10 of your fall TBR books are on my list!! (I've already read the new Murakami, or else that would've been on there too.) You have great taste :P
ReplyDeleteWell, you already know how I feel about your taste in books - since I buy at LEAST 60% of the books you review positively. (Murakami is on my list because of you, tbh.)
DeleteI still need ti read The Rosie Project, it looks great! I've seen Killer Instinct on a couple of lists :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT!
