MONTHLY WRAP-UP | MARCH 2015

March was a pretty busy month for me on the blog - I managed to post nearly every day! Not only that, but I made it through 11 books, which is probably some kind of record.

I've also been doing more buddy reads with other bloggers (and friends of mine) which have made reading so much more fun!I read The Fever with Julianne from Outlandish Lit and Almost Famous Women with Katie from Bookish Tendencies. Neither book was what I had expected going into it, but both were great buddy reads - and discussing the books as we read added a lot of extra depth to the reading experience, particularly for Almost Famous Women, which was an intense and complex read.

I think my favourite reads of the month were the Anne of Green Gables books. I had forgotten how magical and hilarious Anne's world is, and how much fun it is to spend time in. I'm currently reading the third book in the series, Anne of the Island, and I'm looking forward to her next adventures!

Books I read in March:
  • The Half Brother - Holly LeCraw
  • Swamplandia! - Karen Russell
  • The Art of Lainey - Paula Stokes
  • The Fever - Megan Abbott (Not yet reviewed)
  • Hausfrau - Jill Alexander Essbaum
  • A Visit From the Goon Squad - Jennifer Egan (Not yet reviewed)
  • Someone Is Watching - Joy Fielding
  • Almost Famous Women - Megan Mayhew Bergman (Not yet reviewed)
  • Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery (Not yet reviewed)
  • Black Dove White Raven - Elizabeth Wein (Not yet reviewed)
  • Anne of Avonlea - L.M. Montgomery (Not yet reviewed)

Other things you might have missed:

That's about it for March! I'm already looking forward to April. I finished The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie yesterday, and am about a third of the way through A Little Life, which I'm reading with Julianne. I'm also looking forward to the next two Anne of Green Gables books and #CloudAtlasAlong. Here's a list of books I'm planning to read in April so far (of course this will probably change...):

Now it's your turn! What did you read in March? What's on the April shelf? Have you read any of my March or April books?

  2. I'm really hoping to get to Our Endless Numbered Days this month too! It just came in from the library, so I'm going to have to see where I can prioritize it in the line up. So many books, so little time! So glad you're going to give #CloudAtlasAlong a shot, and I can't wait for our next epic buddy read :)

    1. I'm trying to keep up with the Socratic Salon upcoming books so that I can join in on the conversation, and OEND is up soon! I started Cloud Atlas... but I haven't made it through the first section yet! I think partly because I'm already reading a challenging book (A Little Life) and so I don't really find myself wanting to reach for CA in between. More often than not, I reach for a Flavia de Luce or one of the Anne books! Me too - let me know when you've got time, and we'll pick another book!
